Catherine's Story

Dr. Catherine Ward, holds an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership (with an emphasis in Educational Psychology), an M.S. in Counseling, and a B.S. in Human Services (with an emphasis in Mental Health). Catherine is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with 12 years of counseling experience and over 20 years of local, regional, and national public speaking and workshop facilitation. 

Catherine partners with counseling clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship and family issues, life transitions, work and career, aging, grief and loss, sexual assault, domestic violence, trauma, military-related trauma, and post-traumatic stress. Catherine has experience working with women, individuals from historically underrepresented and underserved communities, veterans, women veterans, and the LGBTQIA+ community. She uses an integrated approach to counseling, is person-centered, trauma-informed, and  EMDR trained. 

 

Catherine believes we all have the capacity to change, grow, and heal and we do so in connection and in community with each other. With empathy and compassion, Catherine offers a warm and affirming space and joins and supports clients on their healing and growth journey.

Aliah's Story

Dr. Aliah Mestrovich Seay holds a Ph.D. in Leadership Communication (emphasis intercultural/cross-cultural communication, gender, and racial reconciliation and healing), an M.A. Degree in Counseling Psychology (Marriage and Family Therapy), and a B.S. degree in Clinical Psychology in French (Université de Caen, Basse-Normandie, France). Aliah is a Licensed Clinical Marriage and Family Therapist (LCMFT) with over 15 years of combined experience working as a therapist, career coach, and disability management specialist. With over 20 years of experience in higher education and the not-for-profit sectors. 

Now accepting Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas, and New Hampshire, Aliah works with clients with a wide range of concerns and identities including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, relationship issues, neurodiversity, and other developmental disabilities, work and career, chronic illness, fertility, women’s issues, and disability-related work and school-place barriers. Aliah has experience working with individuals from historically underrepresented underserved communities, international clients, interracial couples and families, women, immigrants/refugees as well as the LGBTQIA+ community. 

 

Aliah’s style is client-centered, directive, warm, and interactive, working with clients to make an action plan to reach their therapy or wellness coaching goals to live their best life.  

 

Aliah is available for individual, couples, and group counseling with adults aged 18+ in English and in French via telehealth appointments. Aliah facilitates counseling services in Spanish and other languages including for the deaf and hard of hearing with a trained interpreter.

Land Acknowledgement

Aliah practices in the state of Kansas which has been home to many Native nations including the Kaw, Osage, and Pawnee as well as is the current home to four federally recognized Native nations: The Prairie Band Potawatomie, the Kickapoo Tribe of Kansas, the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska, and Sac and Fox Nation of Missouri in Kansas and Nebraska. We recognize these Nations as the first stewards of this land and that this land was stolen. Additionally, many native nations have used the plains of Kansas for hunting, such as the Delaware tribe, and have also traversed this region during the Indian removal act due to the settlement of white settlers.

Melissa's Story

Melissa Romo holds an Master of Social Work with an emphasis in Adult Mental Health and Wellness and a Bachelor of Art’s degree in Communications with a minor in Human Services, is registered with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an Associate Clinical Social Worker, #91845, and supervised by Aliah Mestrovich Seay, 

Melissa accompanies client’s on their path to self-discovery and healing from a range of experiences including depression, anxiety, relationship and family, life transitions, work and career, domestic violence, suicidal ideation and self-harm behaviors, trauma, military-related trauma, and post-traumatic stress.

 

Melissa has experience working with individuals from historically underrepresented underserved communities, transitional age youth, adults experiencing severe and persistent mental health disorders, and the military community including family members. With a client-centered and integrative psychotherapy approach, Melissa invites clients on a collaborative journey to develop their goals and motivation for effective therapy. Melissa believes client’s hold the power to their healing, but even more, healing occurs within community so individuals can transform toward their fullest potential. 

 

Melissa is available for individual, couple, and group counseling with adults aged 18+ via telehealth appointments. Melissa also offers counseling in Spanish.

Yajayra's Story

Yajayra Tovar, holds an M.A. in Education (with an emphasis in Counseling) and a B.A. in Psychology (with an emphasis in Sociology). Yajayra is a Higher Education professional with 25 years of leadership, advocacy, and national public speaking and workshop facilitation. Yajayra has extensive coaching experience in transformational change in public education and the community. Her aim is to broaden access to education, resources, support, and opportunities for marginalized communities.

With empathy and compassion, Yajayra has devoted her career to coaching underserved and under-resourced populations. She specializes in self-empowerment and identifying inner strengths that help clients live and lead boldly. 

 

Yajayra is available to provide virtual coaching services to individuals aged 18+.She is bilingual, speaking both Spanish and English.
